Webinar Overview:

In recent years, the misuse of online credentials for assistive animals has made it challenging for housing professionals to distinguish between legitimate requests and fraudulent claims. While HUD’s 2020 “Assistance Animals Notice” laid out guidelines for evaluating reasonable accommodation requests, confusion still reigns among property managers about what is permissible under the Fair Housing Act (FHA). Many are left navigating a maze of complaints, lawsuits, and unclear regulations.

This comprehensive webinar provides a timely refresher on FHA compliance regarding assistive animals, shedding light on who qualifies, what documentation is necessary, and how to properly assess requests. Join Doug Chasick as he walks you through the critical updates, and equips you with the knowledge to confidently handle phony assistive animals and internet-based credential schemes.

Key Takeaways:

  • Understand the difference between legitimate assistive animals and pets.
  • Gain clarity on the types of accommodations you may be required to approve.
